Kumar Kibble is a leadership coach and the chief executive officer of GuideQuest, a company specializing in leadership development within mission-driven organizations. Since graduating from West Point more than 30 years ago, Kumar has led high-performing teams as a military officer, special agent, diplomat, government executive and corporate executive. Clients include leaders from the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Defense, as well as Fortune 500, medium and small businesses.

Kumar has coached hundreds of leaders worldwide during individual, group and team coaching engagements, including executives leading multi-hundred million-dollar business units

Career Background

As a former U.S. Homeland Security deputy assistant secretary, Kumar served as the chief operating officer of its largest criminal investigative agency. He received the Presidential Rank Award for his leadership of a 20,000-person organization with a global presence and $6 billion budget. Kumar rose through the ranks to become the agency’s top career executive, serving in locations throughout the United States and Europe, while leading interagency and international teams in countering transnational crime and terrorism. 

Kumar began his career as a U.S. Army Ranger-qualified, infantry officer in the 82nd Airborne Division. His military service included command of a civil affairs team during a NATO peacekeeping tour in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He worked closely with Bosnian mayors, police and reconstruction officials, as well as United Nations organizations to promote the safe return of thousands of people who had been expelled from their homes within a war-torn region. 

Education and Certifications

Kumar earned a Bachelor of Science degree in National Security and Public Affairs from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Science degree in Management from Johns Hopkins University. He completed the Leadership Coaching for Organizational Well-Being program, an International Coach Federation (ICF)-Accredited Coaching Training Program, at George Mason University’s Center for the Advancement of Well-Being. He is certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as as Personal Certified Coach (PCC).
