Kelly Smith is a senior consultant with FranklinCovey.

Kelly has served clients in many industries and offers particular expertise in the oil industry and other technical fields.  Kelly draws on his years of experience in the world of the physical sciences to provide valuable insight to the world of management.  He is widely recognized for his unique ability to relate the technical issues of the sciences to the broader issues of management.

Kelly specializes in FranklinCovey's leadership and time curriculum which includes The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The 4 Roles of Leadership and FOCUS:  Achieving Your highest Priorities.  He is skilled in the use of the Organization Effectiveness Cycle to help clients diagnose organizational misalignments and redesign for improved organizational performance.  He also designs and delivers custom leadership workshops to suit client needs.

Kelly joined the Covey Leadership Center in 1992 as an affiliate.  At that time, he was a partner with a management consulting firm in Alberta.  Previously, Kelly worked for nine years in the oil industry as a geologist with Texaco Canada and Imperial Oil Resources.  While at Imperial Oil, he was involved in organizational effectiveness projects, which included facilitating numerous sessions of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  He also completed course work in business, philosophy, sociology and human relations.  Dr. Stephen R. Covey was one of his university professors.

Past president of the Calgary chapter of the BYU School of Management, Kelly is also a member of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists.
