John Snell, Senior Consultant

John is a senior consultant and execution specialist for FranklinCovey's Government Services directorate.  He is an expert in the field of execution, organizational change management, and leadership development.  During the final tour of a 26 year Naval career, John served as the personal advisor to the Commander, Naval Personnel Development Command.  During this time, he was responsible for all work force policies associated with operating a training and education organization of over 26,000 staff and 30,000 students with subordinate activities around the globe.

As an expert in change management, John was a key member of the team that redesigned the architecture of delivery of Navy training.  His contributions resulted in the infusion of modern technology, equipment modernization, and integration of manpower and information systems across the billion dollar Navy training organization.  This "Revolution in Navy Training" was the first in over 20 years.  Beyond his leadership in Navy training, John has also served in a myriad of operational leadership positions across the United States Navy with over 16 years of his career served at sea.

During his service to our nation, John served aboard five nuclear powered fast attack submarines, including an extremely successful tour as the Chief of the Boat aboard the USS San Francisco (SSN 711).  John's submarine career also included a tour as the Submarine Squadron One Command Master Chief in Pearl Harbor, HI.  His final at sea tour was aboard the amphibious assault carrier USS Nassau (LHA4) where he deployed the 24 Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

John completed the Navy Executive Business Program at UNC's Keenan-Flager Business School.  He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Excelsior College and is currently pursuing his Masters in Management at Troy University.
