Tom Watson, Execution Practice
Tom Watson is a senior business development leader with responsibility for leading the Execution practice and working with clients in FranklinCovey’s Northeast region. Tom Watson has spent 26 years leading businesses with the same complexities, challenges, and concerns that his clients face in today’s marketplace.
Tom’s greatest asset, leading people, is also his great passion. He recognizes the importance of empowering people to get the best possible result.
Tom’s career, prior to joining FranklinCovey, was in transportation. He started with King Transfer and Storage Company, in Billings, Montana, as a mover during his college years. Within a few years he was Vice President and General Manager, and his career in the industry was launched.
He worked with Corporate Moving Systems, Seattle, Washington, as a sales manager and then Vice President of Sales. He became Vice President of Operations and managed a staff of 70. Later he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager with responsibilities in sales, customer service, finance, and operations. His clients included a number of Fortune 500 organizations.
Tom was recruited to work for The Wakefield Companies, Boston, Massachusetts, as Director of Operations, with responsibilities for all transportation and warehousing operations. His staff included 150 people. He managed the company profitably through a difficult post 9/11 economy and was successful in growing the business and implementing changes that improved the quality of its services.
Tom’s clients represent industries including gas and oil, banking, high technology (computer and software), biotechnology, health care, insurance, legal, and retail. He has worked successfully with educational institutions, branches of the military, and local, state, and federal governmental agencies.
Tom attended Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah.
Tom lives on the North Shore of Massachusetts in Georgetown with his wife, Julie. They have four children and four grandchildren. Tom enjoys reading, golf, puttering around the kitchen, and spoiling his grandchildren.
